Ildikó Horváth, a pulmonologist, has been appointed state secretary for health.
Horváth has been medical director of Budapest’s Korányi Institute of Tb and Pulmonology.
Her appointment by President János Áder takes effect on Tuesday.
The previous state secretary for health care, Anikó Nagy, resigned on October 2, after only 5 months in charge. Explaining her decision, Nagy said she intends to continue as a pediatrician and use her experience to assist the government in its efforts to improve Hungary’s demographic situation.
